HOSPITAL BAG CHECKLIST FOR MOMS

FOR MOMS


  • Maternity Gowns/Pajamas

  • Loose Maternity Underwear

  • Disposable Underwear

  • Nursing Bras

  • Cotton Slips

  • Slippers/ Flip Flops

  • Toiletries: Body Lotion, Face Lotion, Body Oil

  • Breast Pads

  • Nipple Shield

  • Nipple. Cream (A must if you intend to breastfeed)

  • Scarf to cover head (Trust your mums and grand mums when they say it’s best to keep your head covered, for the body is so drained and prone to infection, it’s important to not catch a cold, this will also keep your baby safe, because now whatever you do, your baby might get affected unintentionally)

  • Desi Ghee (Again trust your grand mum, nothing better than desi ghee to moisturize chapped lips or any skin dryness)

  • Sanitary Pads (Maternity Pads are highly recommended)

  • Mumma’s Home Coming Outfit

  • Phone Charger



FOR MOM'S COMFORT


  • Breastfeeding pillow (optional, but can be helpful)

  • Heating pad or cold pack

  • Soothing perineal spray

  • Personal water bottle and snacks



FOR BABY


  • Baby Carrier

  • Swaddles

  • Clothes for the new baby: If you’re having a summer baby: Jhablas, Onesies, Vests, Cotton Socks, Mittens, Caps)

  • If you’re having a winter baby : Thermals, Rompers which cover baby feet as well, Woolen Socks, Mittens, Woolen Caps)

  • Formula (Just incase lactation is delayed, if it is please don’t worry, sometimes breast milk comes immediately and the baby latches on too, sometimes it takes time, either way you will be fine, so will your baby)

  • Feeding Bottles

  • Thermos (Incase you need hot water to make formula)

  • Soft Baby Blanket

  • Burp Cloths

  • Wash Cloths

  • Baby’s Home Coming Outfit

  • Disposable Wipes

  • Rash Cream

  • Cloth Nappies

  • Pins for Nappies

  • Newborn Diapers

  • Virgin Coconut Oil

TIPS


  • Pack light, but don't forget the essentials.

  • Pack a separate bag for your partner with their own essentials.

  • Label your bags clearly

  • Don't be afraid to ask for help from the hospital staff.



Please note, that this is a broad list based my own experience and my conversations with fellow moms and grand mommies along the way! Feel free to pack whatever you think will make this big step easier for you!
